Round your trip off on a private island in the spectacular Okavango Delta, Botswana. Our guides and representatives will meet up with you in Livingstone for your transfers. Pick-up your fully equipped 4x4 vehicle in Kasane, Botswana or in Maun, Botswana depending on your flight preferences. Africa awaits.
Itinerary:
Day 1
Your twelve-day adventure will begin when you get picked up by Fleet Foot's local agent after which you will be transferred to your luxury hotel that is a few minutes’ walks from the Victoria Falls (Zambian side).
Day 2
After breakfast, our agent and local guide will escort you into Zimbabwe for an unforgettable guided walking tour of the Vic Falls. You will then return to Zambia via the famous Victoria Falls Bridge to have lunch and enjoy a guided tour of the Maramba Market in Livingstone Town.
Day 3
After breakfast, you will be taken to the Zambian / Botswana border post at Kazungula. You will then board a ferry that will take you to Botswana. At the Senyati Safari Camp, you will receive your 4X4 car and be briefed on how to use the vehicle and its features. This afternoon, enjoy a game-viewing boat cruise on the Chobe River (included) which is, arguably, one of the best game-viewing experiences in southern Africa.
Day 4
Rise early for your 3-hour guided 4x4 game drive into the Chobe National Park (included). Be sure to stock up on provisions in Kasan town, for the next few days you’ll be heading into the African wilderness. Fleet Foot will help you with planning. The rest of the day may be spent self-driving the Chobe National Park or enjoying the waterhole with its underground hide at Senyati Camp.
Day 5
On the fifth day of this memorable adventure, you will be making your way to an eco-lodge accommodation that is adjacent to the Barangwe Pan. This eco-lodge is situated in prime game viewing area wedged between the Chobe, Linyanti and Savuti Reserves. The waterhole at your accommodation makes for brilliant game viewing in comfort.
Day 6 – 7
After an early breakfast, drive the 60km, 4x4 route to Savuti Camp. Savuti Camp is a perfect base from which to explore Savuti and Linyanti Reserves by self-drive 4x4 game-drives. Be sure to time your drives in the cool of early mornings and late afternoons as this is when most bird- and wildlife are at their most active. There are some great geological and archaeological oddities to be visited in this area too. Fleet Foot will supply you with maps beforehand.
Day 8 – 9
After breaking up camp you will continue on your 4x4 adventure driving southwards through the Savuti traversing challenging sand-ridges and stunning scenery. Your next safari camping destination lines the famous Khwai River and Khwai River concession with its world-class and prolific African wildlife. Meet pods of hippos and life-size crocs lazing around the river banks. African wild-dogs are among some of the rarest mammals to spot in the wild. You have a good chance spotting them here. Here it is easy to spend the whole day patrolling the Khwai River banks for its wild inhabitants.
Day 10
Head towards the small boat station at Xakanaxa Camp (in the Moremi National Park, Okavango Delta) to be picked-up and transferred to your two-night accommodation on a Private Island Camp. You will be cruising on papyrus lined canals and exiting into open lagoons often home to hippo pods and elephants enjoying a swim. At camp, after welcome drinks, you will be shown to your Meru-style canvas tent equipped with twin beds and en suite, open-air bathrooms. A sunset game-viewing cruise on the Delta awaits. Enjoy lunch and dinner at the boma.
Day 11
Breakfast is served in the comfort of the dining-room-tent after which you will be taken on your Mokoro ride. A traditional mokoro ride in the Okavango Delta still remains as one of the most enthralling activities one can do while on safari. Depending on your preferences and time schedule, today, still holds a game-viewing boat cruise, a short guided bush walk on the island, lunch, dinner and stories shared around the campfire at night-time.
Day 12
After breakfast, you'll be transferred to Xakanaxa boat station by boat to collect your parked car there and make the 4x4 journey via the Moremi National Park to Maun Int Airport where our agents will receive the car.
